Ndiongue Scores Twice as Tech Rolls Past Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team improved to 2-0 with its second consecutive shutout win over Union University, 3-0, Saturday night on the road.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • In the seventh minute, Lauryn Wood found some space in the box and ripped a shot, but the Union keeper was able to come up with the save.
  • Marem Ndiongue smashed a shot from just inside the box off in the 20th minute, but a Lady Bulldog defender jumped in front and knocked the ball away.
  • Just seven minutes later, Tech drew a foul in the box and Ndiongue put away the penalty kick past the diving Union keeper to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 30th minute, Union had an opportunity to score after Rebekah Jackson found some space, but her shot sailed high and right of the goal.
  • Another blocked Ndiongue shot gave Tech a corner kick in the 40th minute. Sara Batchadji crossed the ball into the box and Savannah Oxley finished with a header to send the Panthers into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
  • The second half started with both teams jostling for possession. Josefine Nilsen found Eve Tiktikakis open in the box in the 55th minute, but her shot flew just over the crossbar.
  • In the 63rd minute, Oxley worked through the Lady Bulldog's defense and passed the ball off to Diongue who found the back of the net again after she chipped a shot over Union's keeper to extend Tech's lead out to 3-0.
  • Ayana Aoyagi earned the win in goal and recorded one save. Kaitlin Sinkler also saw action in the net and tallied two saves.
  • Marem Ndiongue led the Panthers with five shots and scored two goals.
  • Savannah Oxley notched a score and added an assist.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Tech moves to 2-0-0 all-time against Union. The teams last met in 2019 and the Panthers won 3-1 in that matchup.
  • Ndiongue's two goals today moved her into a tie for 10th all-time in career goals scored (14) with Therese Svensson ('09).
  • The Panther's earned back-to-back shutout victories for the first time since 2021.
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech returns to the Sunshine State for an out-of-conference road matchup with Palm Beach Atlantic. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla.
