MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team defeated Lynn to earn its fourth shutout victory of the season and move to 2-1 in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) play.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The Panthers got to work early and forced Lynn's keeper to make two saves in the first 10 minutes of the game.
- The offensive pressure worked and Tech broke through after Katherine Cunningham sent a perfect cross into the box to Josefine Nilsen, who deposited her shot past the diving keeper to give the Panthers an early 1-0 advantage just 14 minutes into the match.
- The Panthers continued to dominate possession and didn't allow the Fighting Knights to get a shot off the entire first half.
- In the 44th minute, Daniela Tobon saw an opportunity to score for Tech, but her shot was stopped by Lynn's keeper and the teams went into halftime with a score of 1-0.
- Both teams battled back and forth for possession to start the second half. In the 58th minute, Nilsen placed a pass into the box for Lauryn Wood who smashed a shot into the back of the net to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
- Lynn threatened to get one back in the 75th minute. Isabella Battista used a free kick from just outside the box to rip a shot toward the top of the goal, but Ayana Aoyagi came up with the save and corralled the ball to keep the score at 2-0.
- As the rain began to come down late in the match, both teams continued to jostle for possession until the final horn sounded and the match ended with 2-0 score.
- The Panthers outshot the Fighting Knights, 12-2, including 8-0 in the first half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech moves to 17-7-1 all-time against Lynn. The Panthers are now 14-1 over their last 15 matches against the Fighting Knights.
- Josefine Nilsen scored her first goal as a member of the Florida Tech Squad. She also added her first assist since Aug. 31, 2023 against AUM.
- Lauryn Wood scored her first goal this season, and her first goal since Oct. 28, 2022 when she scored against Tampa.
- This is the fourth shutout victory of the season for the Panthers.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech's next match will be on the road against Eckerd on Saturday, Sept. 30. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in St. Petersburg, Fla.
