Women’s Soccer Earns Win on Senior Day

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team honored its three graduating seniors with a 1-0 win over Eckerd at Stottler Field on Saturday night.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Florida Tech began the match dominating possession, getting four shots off in the first 15 minutes, with two on target, but was unable to find the back of the net.
  • In the 21st minute, Savannah Oxley used bouncing ball in the box to take a shot at the goal but was stopped by Eckerd's keeper. On the rebound, Marta Llopis looked to head the ball in, but the ball tipped off the keeper's fingertips and over the goal.
  •  10 minutes later, Llopis found the back of the net after Daniela Tobon sent a perfect pass into the box to put Tech up 1-0 in the 33rd minute.
  • Both teams battled for possession in the remaining minutes of the half and took the 1-0 score into halftime.
  • The Panthers continued to dominate possession in the second half, barraging the Tritons' keeper with five more shots in the first 25 minutes of the half.
  • Eckerd tried to make a push towards the draw in the final few minutes, but Kaitlin Sinkler came up with the save in the 88th minute to earn the win, 1-0.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Marta Llopis currently leads the SSC in goals (8) and points (18).
  • Florida Tech moves to 16-5-2 all-time against Eckerd, including a 12-1 record all-time at Stottler Field.
  • Prior to the match, the Panthers honored their three graduating seniors, Ximena Jauregui, Daniela Tobon, and Lydia Carroll.
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will hit the road on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to take in Lynn. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
