Panthers Power Past Lynn in Second Half

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with two goals in the second half to defeat Lynn, 2-1, on the road Wednesday night.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • Both teams spent the first 10 minutes of the match jostling for possession.
  • The Panthers got the first good look at the goal in the 12th minute with a rocket off the foot of Lauryn Wood, but her shot went just off target.
  • 10 minutes later, Nora Oldmark put the first shot on target in the match, but her attempt was stopped by the Fighting Knights keeper.
  • In the 30th minute, Lynn's first shot of the match banged off the far post and into the net to give the Fighting Knights a 1-0 advantage.
  • The battle for possession continued in the final 15 minutes of the half, but neither team put another shot on target in the period.
  • Lynn came out in the first few minutes of the half controlling the ball, but Tech continued to applied pressure all over the pitch.
  • That pressure paid off in the 60th minute when Marta Llopis sent a deep pass up to Rebecca Storr, who beat her defender and sent her shot past the keeper to the knot the match at 1-1.
  • The back and forth continued for the next several minutes.
  • In the 76th minute, Daniela Tobon who took a shot from outside the box and sniped the top corner of the goal to put the Panthers ahead, 2-1.
  • Tech controlled the ball for the majority of the rest of the match, not allowing another shot attempt, to earn the comeback win, 2-1.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Florida Tech moves to 18-7-1 all-time against Lynn, including a 9-5-0 record on the road in Boca Raton.
  • The Panther have won the past four matchups with the Fighting Knights.
  • Rebecca Storr scored her first goal as a member of the Panthers.
  • Marta Llopis has tallied at least one point in the last three matches.
 
UP NEXT: Florida Tech will have the weekend off before hosting Tampa on Monday, Nov. 4 in a rescheduled game from Oct. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rick Stotler Field in Melbourne, Fla.
