Panthers Suffer Loss in Regular Season Home Finale

Box Score MELBOURNE, FLA. – Florida Tech Panthers volleyball took the loss in their final home game of the regular season against the Eagles.

Records: Florida Tech (19-8, 13-5 SSC) Embry-Riddle (20-8, 13-6 SSC)

STATS OF THE MATCH:

First Set:
  • So much on the line in this battle at the top of the conference against the Panthers & Eagles. The Panthers would strike first in this one courtesy of Cordelia Kearns, 1-0.
  • Techs lead would be short lived as the Eagles would respond with a (0-3) run and take the lead, 1-3.
  • The teams would battle back and forth 5-5, 6-6, and 7-7, until the Eagles would separate themselves with four quick points to take the lead, 9-12.
  • The Eagles would hold the lead to the finish line as they would answer all the Panther attacks and take the win in set one, 21-25.
 
Second Set:
  • Similar to set one, Kearns would get the scoring going again for the Panthers, 1-0.
  • This set would remain extremely close early until the Panthers down 6-7 would open a (6-1) run and take the lead, 12-8.
  • The Panthers would answer every attempt from the Eagles as the lead would stay within three to four until the Eagles down four, would deliver a (4-0) run to tie the game.
  • Tech would respond and with the help of two errors by the Eagles and Kills from Irene Kitson, Chiara Patelli, and Kenzie Delacher, the Panthers would take the set win, 25-22.
 
Third Set:
  • The Eagles jumped out to an early 0-2 lead before a kill from Chiara Patelli would get the Panthers on the board and a service ace from Courtney Caper would tie.
  • The game would continue to be back and forth until Tech, down two would rattle off a (4-0) run to take the lead, 9-7.
  • The Eagles would answer, followed by two more Panther scores, 11-9.
  • Things would take a turn for the worst when the Eagles rattled a 2-9 run taking a commanding lead and the air out of the gym.
  • The Panthers would claw their way back as this team will continue to fight till the very end and they would bring things as lose as one point, 21-22 and 23-24 but could not stop the Eagles and lose set three.
 
Fourth Set:
  • The Eagles started the set off with a commanding 0-5 lead and this one had a finish in four sets written all over it.
  • The Panthers would get on the board thanks to a kill from Irene Kitson followed by a Chiara Patelli Kill, 2-5.
  • Then slowly but surely, the Panthers chipped away at the lead as Cordelia Kearns would register five Panther kills to get Tech within reach, 8-10.
  • Tech would remain behind until Ashley Rants would make her appearance known with two pivotal kills apart of a (4-0) run to bring the Panthers within one point, 18-19.
  • The Panthers would than fall behind by three points before a (6-0) run via two Cordelia Kearns kills, one Lexi Lueger kill, an error from the Eagles, and a service ace from Courtney Caper would steal the set for the Panthers
 
Fifth Set:
  • The Panthers came out of the gate hot looking to take the comeback win over the Eagles.
  • Cordelia Kearns would continue her dominance as she would lead Tech with five kills in addition to kills from Antia Vallecas Rodriguez, Chiara Patelli, and Lilian Muszynski to build a substantial 10-4 lead in the final set.
  • After a timeout from the Eagles, the Panthers would be outscored (2-10) as they would suffer defeat in their final home game.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS:  
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Lilian Muszynski moves into a tie for sixth all time in in block solos in a season with 31
  • All-time vs. Embry-Riddle: 16-19
  • Panthers are 11-7 all-time at home vs. Embry-Riddle with their last home win vs. ERAU since on October 25, 2016.
 
UP NEXT:
The Panthers have concluded their home games for the regular season and will close the regular season out with two road games. This coming Friday, November 22nd at 7pm they will travel to Florida Southern College to take on the Mocs.
