Second Half Struggles Lead to Loss at Home for the Panthers
MELBOURNE, FLA. – The Panthers had one of their best halves of the season to begin this game but struggled to contain the Chargers as they would go on to lose the final home game for the year of 2024

STATS OF THE MATCH:
First Half:
- A Max Polk three-pointer got the game started between the Panthers and Chargers.
- To follow, Can Kaan Turgut, Donovan Brown, and Donovan Murphy would register in the box score for Tech as the teams would remain in a tight battle, Tech up 12-7.
- After starting the game with the first three-pointer, Polk would add two more to keep the Panthers ahead early.
- Brown and Turgut would match Polk, each with a three-pointer of their own, 21-20.
- The downside for the Panthers up to this point would be that the Chargers would also hit a barrage of threes to keep the contest close, but the Panthers would remain in the lead, 35-31.
- A big swing came in the final five minutes of the first half as the Panthers would score only two points via a Ben Csernak layup, to the Chargers' 12.
- At halftime, the Panthers would face a six-point deficit, 37-43.
- Individually, Polk with 11 points and Brown with 10 points would lead Tech at the break.
- As for the team, they would have one of their better halves of the season, shooting an even 50% from the field and just over 45% from three-point range.
Second Half:
- The Panther's deficit would grow as the second half went underway as they would be outscored 2-8 and the Charger's lead would grow to 12.
- Unfortunately for the Panthers, this would be the closest the score would be for the remainder of the game.
- The Chargers would finish the final half shooting over 60% from the field and over 50% from three as Tech would take the loss, 70-96
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Donovan Brown led all scorers with 20 points while adding in a team-high four assists to complement.
- Max Polk helped in support, finishing with 17 points.
- Donovan Murphy flirted with a double-double, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds which tied for the lead in the game with Logan Allen with eight rebounds as well.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This marks the first-ever meeting between Florida Tech and the Dominican University of NY
UP NEXT:
The Panthers will finish out the year 2024 with a trip to Fort Myers tomorrow, Sunday, December 22
nd, as they will compete against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at 1 pm in the Alico Arena
