BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Tech baseball dropped game one of its doubleheader to No. 14 Lynn, 6-3, but bounced back in game two with a shutout win, 7-0, to take the series.

STATS OF GAME 1:
- In the bottom of the first, Lynn started the scoring with a solo home run from just their second batter of the game to take an early 1-0 lead.
- A few batters later, an RBI single put the Fighting Knights up 2-0.
- Tech threatened in the top of the second with the bases loaded and two outs, but Lynn would force Gabe Garrett to fly out to deep center field to escape the jam.
- Both pitching staffs would lock in until the bottom of the sixth inning. An RBI single followed by a sacrifice RBI bunt added two more runs to make it a 4-0 game.
- The Panthers scratched a run across the plate in the top of the seventh from an RBI fielder's choice by Carlos Guzman.
- Lynn came right back in the bottom half of the frame with a two-run home run by Leon Paulino.
- Both teams would toss a scoreless eighth. In the top of the ninth, Jack Matousek would blast a two-run bomb to right field to cut the deficit down to 6-3. However, the next two Panthers would fly out to end the game.

STATS OF GAME 2:
- Tech would get on the board in the top of the second inning in game two with a two-run home run from Cole Patrick to take an early 2-0 lead.
- In the top of the third, with runners on second and third, Brett Kelly singled home Roman Samson to push the lead to 3-0.
- The starting pitcher for Tech, Josh Beck, would toss back-to-back scoreless innings and pick up three strikeouts along the way to keep Lynn in check.
- Marshall Burke singled to begin the top of the fifth inning and Guzman would bring him home on a towering home run to extend the lead to 5-0.
- After a few more scoreless innings, Guzman would cross the plate again, this time from an RBI single by Samson to make it a 6-0 game.
- Two batters later, Patrick would single home Samson to push the lead to 7-0.
- Pitching in relief, Trenten Anderson retired the Fighting Knights in order in the bottom of the seventh.
- Brady Guthrie took the mound in the bottom of the ninth looking to close the door on Lynn. A one-out double put a runner on second, but Guthrie would retire the next two batters to secure the shutout win for the Panthers, 7-0.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Florida Tech moves to 52-50 all-time against Lynn, including a 19-28 record on the road in Boca Raton.
- This is the first road series win over a ranked opponent since the Panthers took two out of three from Lynn on March 25-26, 2016.
- Brett Kelly finished the day 4-for-9 at the plate with a double and an RBI.
- Carlos Guzman, Jack Matousek, and Cole Patrick each went deep today. Guzman and Patrick each finished with three RBI's.
- Josh Beck earned the win in game two after he tossed five innings of scoreless baseball. He also added five strikeouts to his line.

UP NEXT: Florida Tech will return to Melbourne for a weekend game against Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday, March 9. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
