Zach Rozgonyi Sets Career Goals Record in Panthers Loss to Lynn

Zach Rozgonyi became the program’s all-time leading goal scorer on Saturday afternoon

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior Zach Rozgonyi broke the Panther's all-time career goals record in the 11-9 loss to Lynn. Rozgonyi became the all-time leading goal scorer with his tally at the 8:39 mark of the first quarter. He now tops the goal-scoring list with 108 and counting.

FIRST QUARTER:  SECOND QUARTER: 
  • Lynn opened the second quarter with three consecutive tallies to take the lead for the first time.
  • Foster tallied his second goal of the game off an assist from Stewart on an extra-man play to tie the game with 2:38 to go.
  • Jax Francisco recorded six saves in the second quarter.
THIRD QUARTER: 
  • Once again, Lynn opened the period scoring three straight goals to take a three-goal lead, their largest lead of the day.
  • Jonah Borynec ended Tech's scoring drought with 1:58 left in the period.
  • 40 seconds later, Griffin Martin scored his lone goal of the day to make it a one-goal game heading into the final period.
FOURTH QUARTER: 
  • Fighting Knights edged the Panthers, outscoring them 3-2 in the fourth.
  • Rozgonyi netted the first goal of the period on an assist from Stewart.
  • Brian Barlotta got into the scoring mix to cut the deficit 10-9 with 6:23 to go.
  • Lynn scored the final goal at the 2:37 mark to take a two-goal win over Tech.
COACHES CORNER:

"We met a team that was playing with more energy and urgency than we did," said head coach Brad MacArthur. "It's a great lesson going into the playoffs. If you come out flat teams will bury you. The big picture is still good. We end with Tampa and then will prepare for a home playoff game."

NOTABLE PANTHERS:  INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Lynn ended with more shots (43-36), shots on goal (30-17) and ground balls (29-18).
  • Fighting Knights won 17-24 on faceoffs compared to 7-24 for Tech.
  • Tech recorded more turnovers (18-12).
  • Panthers were 22-24 on clears while Lynn finished 16-19.
  • Tech went 2-7 on the man-up while Lynn went 3-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech moves to 7-4 all-time against Lynn.
  • With his goal in the first quarter, Zach Rozgonyi became the program's all-time leading scorer.
  • Jax Francisco's career-high 19 saves pushes him past 300 career saves with 318. He is just the third Panther goalie to reach the 300 mark.
  • Ricky Fedorchak moved into seventh all-time on the program's career caused turnover list with 39.
  • Matt Josefson's goal in the first period was the first of his career.
UP NEXT: Florida Tech is back at Rick Stottler Field Wednesday, April 17, for the regular season finale against No. 3 Tampa. The Contest is set for 7:30 p.m.
