Panthers Fall to No.9 Rollins in SSC Semifinal

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Florida Tech men's lacrosse traveled to Winter Park on Wednesday for the SSC Semifinal contest against Rollins. The Panthers saw their season come to an end as Rollins took a convincing 18-6 win.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER: 
  • Rollins outscored the Panthers 8-1 in the opening frame.
  • The Panther's lone goal came from Griffin Martin with 9:30 to go.
  • Jax Francisco recorded five saves in the period.
SECOND QUARTER: 
  • Tars recorded back-to-back goals to open the period.
  • Jakob Terpak found the back of the net, unassisted, with 10:01 to go.
  • Rollins scored one more before Cam McKee found Collin Stewart to cut the margin.
  • Terpak would net one more for Tech, but Rollins ended the period with a 13-4 advantage.
THIRD QUARTER: 
  • Rollins scored just 1:09 into the third quarter.
  • It was a defensive stalemate up until the final five minutes, when Rollins was able to tack on one more.
FOURTH QUARTER: 
  • Stewart broke the Panther's scoring drought, finding the back of the net with 13:40 to go in the final period.
  • Tars scored three consecutive goals to go up 18-5 with 6:43 remaining.
  • Terpak completed the hat trick with 2:38 to go, as Rollins took an 18-6 win to end the Panther's season.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:  INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Rollins ended with an advantage in shots (63-31), shots on goal (32-17)  and ground balls (35-27).
  • Florida Tech went 16-24 on clears, while Lynn went 24-27.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Florida Tech moves to 6-10 all-time against the Rollins Tars.
  • The Panthers move to 3-5 all-time in the SSC Tournament.
  • Collin Stewart's two points tie him for second all-time in career points with 139.
  • Jax Francisco moves to second all-time in program history for career saves.
