DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team traveled North to take on the No. 22 North Georgia Nighthawks, and came away with a 2-1 victory on the road.

STATS OF THE MATCH
- Both teams battled for possession in the first half.
- Tech's first opportunity came in the ninth minute when Halla Helgadottir and Alice Mottershead each took a rip at the goal but UNG's keeper came up with the saves.
- The Nighthawks threatened with a shot on target in the 38th minute, but Panther keeper Kaitlin Sinkler kept the ball in front of her and made the save to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
- The Panthers outshot the Nighthawks, 6-5, in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
- UNG broke the tie in the second half with a goal in the 49th minute.
- Less than five minutes later, the Panthers took the ball down the field and Mottershead sent a cross into the box. Savannah Oxley knocked the ball past the keeper with a header to knot the game at 1-1.
- Just eight minutes later, Katie Ormerod sent a rocket past the keeper for her first collegiate goal and to Tech a 2-1 advantage.
- The battle for possession resumed from that point on.
- A red card assessed to the Panthers put them a man down for the final 10 minutes of the game, but the defense buckled down and only allowed one shot that was off target for the rest of the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Florida Tech moves to 2-2-1 all-time against UNG, including a 1-1-1 record in Dahlonega.
- This was the first win over UNG since a 3-0 victory on Sept. 6, 2013.
- Katie Ormerod recorded her first collegiate goal in today's match.
UP NEXT: The Panthers will continue the road trip up to Hickory, N.C. to take on No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
