STATS OF THE MATCH:

First Half:

  • The Panthers had great energy to start this contest against the Sailfish.
  • Free throws from Logan Allen and a jumper from Max Polk put Tech on top early, 4-0.
  • Three-pointers would get the Sailfish on the board and the teams would start to trade baskets around the 15-minute mark in this one.
  • With the Panthers trailing by six Donovan Brown would register a jumper to keep Tech close, 15-19.
  • The Sailfish would start to see shots fall late to end the half as they would end on a 5-20 run creating a 20-point lead at the half, 20-40.
  • Allen and Brown would lead the Panthers with seven points each to lead the team all shots made coming from the floor or the free throw line as the team went 0-6 from the three-point line.

Second Half:

  • The Panthers fed off their good team defense to start the second half to get back in this game as Polk would start to take over for a stretch scoring 10 of Techs' 13 as they cut the Sailfish lead to just 13, 33-46.
  • The margin would stay on the teeter of going in Techs' favor for two minutes, but it would be the Sailfish capitalizing on a 10-16 run to extend the lead back up to 20 points.
  • The box score may not show it, but this game was between 2-3 possessions away from being in favor of the Panthers.
  • They fought hard but struggled to get shots to fall and it was late-game fouling at the end that ran the score up.
  • The Panthers took the loss but held the Sailfish to nine points under their season average of 81.8.

NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Max Polk finished with a game-high 16 points while Donovan Brown had a team-high five assists.
  • Can Kaan Turgut matched a season-high in rebounds with eight and Donovan Murphy matched a season-high in rebounds as well with nine and a season-high two blocks on the night.
COACHES CORNER:
  • "I thought we defended well up through mid-way of the first half, we were up early but went cold and it felt like there was a lid on the basket. Credit to PBA, they played our top two scorers well on the defensive end, and a late first-half push increased the lead to 20 at the half. Now in the second half, I thought we came out strong, credit to us as we rebounded the best we had in a while and played good team defense, and I felt we had a chance based on our defensive effort, but we had to score to match that, and we struggled shooting tonight." – Billy Mims
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • All-time vs. Palm Beach Atlantic: 27-19
  • Since the start of the 2014-15 season, the Sailfish hold a 13-8 advantage in the series.
  • Tech is 10-11 all-time at PBA.
