Panthers Bite the Snakes on the Road

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Tech Panthers scored the first two goals and held on to defeat Florida Southern, 2-1, on Saturday night in Lakeland. Logan Collins netted his second goal in as many starts.

STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Tech keeper Elias Ronning Orn stopped a strong early push from Florida Southern, making three saves before the 12th minute and a fourth in the 29th.
  • While the Panthers had a few early looks, the offense didn't come alive until a foul set up a free kick just outside the Mocs' eighteen. Jacopo De Collibus buried it in the top-left corner for the 1-0 lead.
  • The rest of the half was quiet, and the Crimson and Gray went into the break up 1-0.
  • Orn faced another three shots early in the second half, making a key save low to his right.
  • Tech turned up the pressure in the 56th minute with back-to-back attempts on goal, both blocked by a Moc defender.
  • At 59:48, Francesco Micheli headed a corner to Logan Collins near the right post, and Collins fired into the bottom-left corner to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • Just three minutes later, a foul inside the box gave Florida Southern a penalty kick, which they converted to cut the lead in half.
  • Up one, the Tech defense stood tall, fending off seven more Moc shots. Orn made one final save to lock in the 2-1 win in Lakeland.
