Tech Remains Unbeaten at Home with Win Over Lynn

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team is back in the win column as they defeat the Lynn Fight Knights 2-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 29. With the win, the Panthers remain unbeaten at home are now 8-3-5 (4-2-3 SSC). Lynn falls to 2-9-4 and 1-7-1 in conference play.

GAME NOTES
  • Florida Tech got the offense rolling early as the Panther attack struck in the 7th minute as Ellinor Blaasternes scored her first goal of her college career off a nice cross from Rio Naganawa.
  • Tech kept the pressure on Lynn to defend as Izzie Bromage got a shot off in the 12th minute that was deflected by a defender.
  • Shortly after a corner kick for FT, Lauryn Wood had a shot on goal in the 18th minute that was saved by the Lynn keeper.
  • Late in the first half, the Fighting Knights connected a couple passes and had two shots on goal that were saved by Mette Brandes in her second start of the season.
  • The Panthers went into half up 1-0.
  • Florida Tech came out of the half with a barrage of shots. Five total shots within the first seven minutes, none of which found the back of the net.
  • After a foul committed by a Lynn defender inside the box, the Panthers sent Sara Batchadji for the penalty kick. Batchadji swiftly scored her fourth goal of the season with her left foot to put FT up 2-0.
  • Lynn put two shots on goal during the 77th minute, but a save by Brandes and a deflection off a Panther defender kept the Fighting Knights scoreless.
  • Mette Brandes and the Panther defense would continue to play excellent defense to earn their sixth clean sheet of the season.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • Tech has now shut out Lynn over the past 297:48 at Rick Stottler Field dating back to Oct. 17, 2018.
  • Ellinor Blaasternes recorded the first goal of her collegiate career in the 7th minute.
  • Sara Batchadji picked up her fourth goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
  • In her second start of the season, Mette Brandes recorded seven saves in 10 shots faced.

The Panthers will return to the pitch on Tuesday, Nov. 4 as they celebrate Senior Night and the final match of the regular season against Barry. Kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
