Panthers Draw with No. 24 Franklin Pierce After 90 Hard-Fought Minutes

RINDGE, N.H. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team draws in a hard-fought 90-minute battle with No. 24 Franklin Pierce on Friday, Oct. 3. With the tie, Florida Tech is now 5-1-4 (2-0-2 SSC) while the Ravens are 6-1-2 (3-0-0 NE10).

GAME NOTES
  • The first chance to crack the scoreboard went to the Ravens in the 7th and 8th minutes as Tech defended two Franklin Pierce corners.
  • After two fouls on the Ravens, the Panthers fired the first shot of the match coming from Alice Mottershead which was saved by the keeper.
  • Franklin Pierce generated an offensive attack with two shots and two corners, all well defended by the Panthers.
  • Sara Batchadji and Mia Otero both sent shots toward the Ravens goal, but both were unable to find the back of the net.
  • From there on, both teams only got off one more shot a piece until the end of the half.
  • The Ravens quickly took the lead with a goal in the 51st minute.
  • Tech moved the ball with a sense of urgency as they placed three shots. A Panther shot in the 54thminute was off target but shots by Rio Naganawa and Savannah OxIey were corralled by the Franklin Pierce keeper.
  • FPU fired two shots in the 66th and 67th minutes. Kaitlin Sinkler notched her first save of the match.
  • Florida Tech tied the match at 1-1 in the 81st minute as Mia Otero connected with Alice Mottershead for Mottershead's first goal of the season. Otero's first assist in the crimson and black.
  • Franklin Pierce was unable to get off any more shots in the match while Lauryn Wood rocketed two shots that just missed high in the 86th and 88th minutes.
  • After 90 hard-fought minutes, the match would end in a tie.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • Alice Mottershead found the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 81st minute.
  • Mia Otero earned her first assist of the season.
  • This is the second time in program history both schools have faced off. FT 1-0-1 all-time.
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers will face Southern New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 p.m. EST. This will be the Panthers final match of the quick two match road trip.
