WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Florida Tech men's and women's swimming teams combined for 17 first-place finishes as both teams picked up the victory against Rollins on Saturday, Oct. 4. The men's team won 156-106 while the women 149-112.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Both teams kicked off the new season with first-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay where the men's team (Pleiman, Kunin, Van Oord, McLean) finished with a time of 1:32.23 and the women's (Peters, Roberts, Olhasso, Sarvis) 1:48.50.
- Abby Briggs took gold in the 100 Free with a time of 11:00.94.
- Efe Ongoren won the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.04.
- Melissa Zucco and Sonia Peters placed first and second in the 100 Back with times of 59.47 and 1:00.50, respectively.
- In the men's 100 Back, Zach Reese and Andy Pleiman took the top two spots with times of 52.04 and 53.16.
- Isabella Sarvis and Lucas Mitchelmore each won their races in the 50 Free with times of 24.89 and 21.53, respectively. Mitchelmore added another first-place finish in the 100 Free with a time of 46.99
- Miranda Olhasso notched a first-place finish with a time of 53.86 in the 100 Free.
- Melissa Zucco and Akos Hajagos dominated the 200 Back with first-place times of 2:09.28 and 1:54.88.
- DK Nakashima placed first in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.45.
- Abby Briggs and Efe Ongoren won first in the 500 Free with times of 5:24.13 and 4:46.30.
- Nilsu Demiran swam a first place time of 59.33 in the 100 Fly.
