BLUFFTON, SC – Despite a slow start, the Florida Tech women's basketball team mounted an impressive comeback to seize a late lead, but ultimately fell 82–80 on Wednesday night. Trailing by 18 midway through the second half, the Panthers surged back with outstanding shooting to build a seven-point advantage with just four minutes remaining.

FIRST QUARTER:
- The Sand Sharks came out strong, opening the game with a 9–0 run.
- Remingtyn Smith halted the surge with a floating jumper at the 7:17 mark.
- Beaufort responded with another dominant stretch, scoring 10 unanswered points.
- Florida Tech closed the quarter on a positive note, putting up seven straight points—all courtesy of Nandinkhusel Nyamjav.
SECOND QUARTER:
- Both teams opened the second quarter with turnover troubles, with the first points not coming until Remingtyn Smith knocked down a pair of free throws at the 7:56 mark.
- Trailing 31–15, Florida Tech finally found some rhythm offensively, stringing together a 13–8 run over the final five minutes of the half.
THIRD QUARTER:
- The Panthers began their comeback in the third quarter, shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field.
- Tech matched Beaufort basket for basket, refusing to let the gap widen.
- A steal by Nyamjav followed by a driving layup from Smith ignited a 13–5 run, trimming the deficit to 50–47. Smith also knocked down the Panthers' first three-pointer from the top of the key.
- Six made free throws helped Tech stay within striking distance, closing the quarter trailing just 61–55
FOURTH QUARTER:
- Tech wasted no time taking its first lead of the night, opening the fourth quarter with eight straight points, including two clutch midrange jumpers from Roberts.
- Nyamjav kept the momentum rolling, slicing through the Sand Shark defense for key baskets.
- On consecutive possessions, the Panthers generated wide-open looks for Sydney Logsdon and Mikayla Morin beneath the rim, stretching their lead to 74–67.
- Beaufort's Taniyah Bowman responded with multiple three-point plays, flipping the advantage back in the Sand Sharks' favor at 79–75.
- Although Nyamjav buried a huge step-back three, it wasn't enough, and the Panthers ultimately fell 82–80.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Nandinkhusel Nyamjav led the way with 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, while adding four rebounds and two steals.
- Remingtyn Smith delivered a strong all-around performance with 15 points, three rebounds, six assists, three steals, and a block.
- Tai Roberts also reached double figures, finishing with 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- This matchup marked the first-ever meeting between Florida Tech and South Carolina Beaufort.
- The Panthers reached the 80-point mark on the road for the first time since putting up 89 in a triple-overtime loss at Barry on January 12, 2022 and the first time in regulation since scoring 85 at Saint Leo on January 10, 2018.
- Tech's 52.8% shooting from the field was its best single-game field-goal percentage (with at least 50 attempts) since February 5, 2022, against Nova Southeastern.
- Remingtyn Smith reached a career milestone, becoming the 29th player in program history to record 100 career assists.
- Nyamjav's 28-point performance was the highest by a Panther since Sarah Liberatore scored 28 against Embry-Riddle on January 11, 2023.
