Threes and Defense Guide Panthers’ Win

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Panthers' seven made three-pointers and strong defense down the stretch powered Florida Tech to a 57–54 road win over Rollins. Tech held the Tars to 37% shooting on 62 attempts and forced 15 turnovers, sealing the victory with key stops.

FIRST QUARTER:
  • Rollins opened the game with a three-pointer.
  • Nandinkhusel Nyamjav answered with a step-back jumper, and moments later, a Remingtyn Smith steal set up Tai Roberts to draw a foul and convert both free throws.
  • The teams traded baskets to reach a 9–9 tie with three minutes remaining.
  • The Tars knocked down another three to regain the lead and carried a 14–13 advantage into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER:
  • After Rollins extended its lead with a layup, Roberts tied the game by knocking down a deep three at the 8:28 mark.
  • Over the next four minutes, both teams traded two-point baskets on several possessions.
  • Nyamjav broke the stretch with a three-pointer to put Tech back in front.
  • Rollins' Ellie Thompson then caught fire, scoring the Tars' next 10 points on two driving layups and a pair of threes.
  • A turnaround jumper from Mikayla Morin kept the Panthers within five at halftime.
THIRD QUARTER:
  • In the third, the Panthers tightened up defensively while Roberts caught fire from deep.
  • With Rollins leading 32–27 at the 7:19 mark, Roberts buried a corner three to ignite a 15–2 Florida Tech run.
  • She capped the surge with back-to-back threes, then knocked down a pull-up jumper on the next possession.
  • Rollins answered with a layup, but that would be its final points of the quarter as Tech outscored the Tars 23–8.
  • Four made free throws closed out a dominant third, sending the Panthers into the fourth with a 46–36 lead.
FOURTH QUARTER:
  • The momentum stayed with the Panthers to open the fourth, pushing the lead to 13 midway through the quarter.
  • One of the key baskets came from Nyamjav, who swiped the ball from the Tars and drilled a pull-up jumper in transition.
  • Rollins refused to go away, landing three big three-pointers between the 3:39 and 1:36 marks.
  • Smith answered with a clutch corner three to help fend off the late surge, allowing Tech to withstand Rollins' 13-point push over the final four minutes.
NOTABLE PANTHERS: 
  • SSC Player of the Week Tai Roberts led all scorers with 23 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-7 from beyond the arc.
  • Mikayla Morin joined her in double figures with 10 points while adding six rebounds and two steals.
  • Amanda Ogbonna pulled down 10 rebounds for the second straight game.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers won their fourth straight in the series for just the second time ever, and the first since a six-game streak from January 15, 1992, to March 4, 1993.
  • It also marks Tech's first three-game winning streak against the Tars in Winter Park since taking three straight between January 15, 1992, and February 3, 1993.
  • Tech went a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line, the program's first flawless performance at the stripe since December 20, 2021, against Edward Waters.
  • The 54 points allowed were the fewest given up since last season's road win at Rollins on January 31.
