Guthrie Drops Career-High 19 Points in Loss to Lynn

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Despite a career-high 19 points from Divine Guthrie, the Panthers fell to Lynn on the road, 74-59. Helped by Guthrie, Florida Tech bench outscored Lynn's 31-19.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER:
  • Dalma Ehmann looked to continue her solid offensive scoring for a third straight game, earning the opening bucket.
  • On the boards, Mikayla Morin gave the Panthers multiple chances with three rebounds and two offensive rebounds in twenty seconds.
  • It was at the 6:47 mark when Divine Guthrie exploded onto the scene. Guthrie's first basket was a pullup jumper, tying the game a four apiece.
  • The senior would tie the game again at 6-6 about a minute later with a second-chance jumper off a Remingtyn offensive rebound and assist.
  • Tech grabbed their first lead with under three minutes to play on an Emily Acampora three-pointer in the first quarter.
  • The quarter would end with the Panthers down 14-13 after another Smith rebound to a Guthrie score.
SECOND QUARTER:
  • The Panthers regained the lead when Kyandra Poitier tipped in an offensive rebound for the 15-14 advantage.
  • The lead traded hands throughout the quarter. Tai Roberts scored seven, and Guthrie scored four, keeping the Panthers within striking distance at the half, down 33-31.
 THIRD QUARTER:
  • Guthrie never slowed down, dropping two quick baskets in the third for the 37-35 edge.
  • Ehmann and Guthrie were a force, extending the Crimson and Gray's lead to 42-37 three minutes into the quarter.
  • A Roberts deep shot increased Tech's lead even further, holding a six-point lead.
  • However, a Lynn 14-4 run in the final five minutes put them ahead 53-49 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.
 FOURTH QUARTER:
  • Lynn stayed on a roll to start the fourth, tallying 10 unanswered points on their way to a 63-49 advantage with 7:28 left on the clock
  • Under two minutes left, Nadine Johnson drained a three-pointer, but the Panthers could not close the gap.
  • Lynn grabbed the 74-59 victory at home.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Divine Guthrie scored a game-high 19 points, which also was a career-high for the senior. She also recorded four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
  • Tai Roberts also scored in double figures with 14 points while leading the team with a season-high six assists. Tai also swiped two steals.
  • Mikayla Morin led the team with six rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • The Panthers are 34-25 against the Fighting Knights, including a win over Lynn early this season in Melbourne.
  •  Roberts's first steal of the game gave her 100 career steals, making her the 26th player in program history to reach the milestone.
  •  Jessica Lange's block made her the program's 20th player with 40 career blocks.
 UP NEXT: Florida Tech returns home to host No. 19 Tampa on Wednesday, February 19. The tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
