Senior Day Ends in Loss to Palm Beach Atlantic

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's basketball dropped a tightly contested contest, 73-65 on Senior Day. Tai Roberts had the Panthers in position for most of the game, dropping 12 points in the first half.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

FIRST QUARTER:
  • A senior in Dalma Ehmann on Senior Night got the ball rolling with an opening layup. Another senior in Divine Guthrie dropped in her layup the following possession for a 4-0 lead.
  • Over two minutes later, Palm Beach Atlantic tied it at four a piece. However, senior Sarah Liberatore put the Panthers back in front with a deep shot.
  • At 9-9, the teams went back and forth, with the Sailfish finishing the quarter with a 20-17 advantage.
SECOND QUARTER:
  • Roberts went on a tear to begin the second, draining a three-pointer and two free throws to have the game at 22-22.
  • A Liberatore steal led to a Kyandra Poitier jumper and one free throw, giving the Panthers a 25-22 lead.
  • Roberts scored five more points near the halfway point of the quarter, keeping Tech close on the scoreboard.
  • At the break, the Panthers were down 37-32.
 THIRD QUARTER:
  • The Sailfish cashed in on four points in the third before Liberatore dropped in her second three-pointer
  • Emily Acampora also hit a three-pointer a few minutes later to have Tech down by six.
  • Roberts adds four points to her total and Poitier tips in a missed layup, tying the game again at 46-46.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic laid a basket in to have the advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.
 FOURTH QUARTER:
  •  Another Acampora three-pointer closed the gap even further, and then Roberts' layup secured the 53-52 lead at the seven-minute mark.
  • Poitier held the lead for the Panthers the next two minutes. But the Sailfish dropped a bucket from beyond the arch, regaining the 57-56 edge.
  • The Sailfish extended with a three-pointer under the two minutes remaining then held on to win through free throws 73-65.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Tai Roberts posted 20 or more points for the second time in three games with her game-high 22. She also tallied four rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
  • Kyandra Poitier registered her third double-double of the season, recording 12 points and 13 rebounds. The 13 rebounds are a season-high for the senior.
  • Senior Dalma Ehmann scored in double figures for the sixth time this season. She also compiled four rebounds, two steals, and a block.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Tech is 30-11 overall and 18-4 at home against Palm Beach Atlantic.
  • Sarah Liberatore's three assists gave her over 100 in her Panthers' career.
  • Three Panthers scored double-digit points, and three different Panthers swiped multiple steals.
