MELBOURNE, Fla. – Sammy Murphy's complete game performance secured a 2-1 Game Two win in the doubleheader against No. 21 Nova Southeastern. The Panthers took a lead early in Game Three but fell 7-4 in the series' final game.

- Sammy Murphy's impressive day began with a 1-2-3 first innings, striking out the second batter.
- Murphy didn't give up her first hit until the top of the fourth, holding the Sharks off the scoreboard. The redshirt freshman pitcher struck out two in the fourth despite giving up the single.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers got something going offensively. Celeste Casillas led off with a walk, and then Miranda Schwartz singled to center field. They both advance one base on a sacrifice bunt.
- Julianna Hynes bunted a single to load the bases, but two straight outs ended the threat.
- The pressure did not faze Murphy in the circle as she shut down the first two batters on swinging strikes and got out of the fifth unscathed.
- Coming so close in the previous inning motivated the Panthers in the following inning. Malaya Nelson's hot bat stroked a singled up the middle. After a bunt and a single, Nelson crossed home plate for the game's first run on a Schwartz single through the 3-4 hole.
- Tech wanted more and would get more in the sixth. Even though the first two batters went down, the Panthers loaded the bases on a walk, a Nelson and Ella Niles singles.
- Chloe Fariello battled in her at-bat, working a walk for a run and the 2-0 advantage.
- Having only three outs, the Sharks recorded consecutive hits and walked the bases loaded after a foul out. However, Murphy settled down and forced a flyout, which scored just one run and secured the victory with the eighth and final strikeout

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Nova Southeastern led the game, bunting a single and stealing second base. However, they would leave the runner stranded at third base.
- The Panthers made noise from the first inning. Fariello slapped and sprinted to her first career triple. The Lake Worth, Florida native came home the following batter when Casillas placed a ball right of centerfield.
- Fariello produced two straight 1-2-3 innings in the circle and tallied two strikeouts in the second and third.
- Tech worked a huge inning in the third, plating three runs and extending the lead to 4-0. With a hit, Fariello made her presence known again, putting runners on the corners. Two perfectly placed bunts by Casillas and Schwartz allowed for both runners to score.
- Later in the inning, Samantha Shortal popped a sacrifice fly to second base, bringing home Casillas.
- The Sharks responded with a three-run fourth inning, helped by two doubles down the left-field line.
- Lauren Margolis of Nova Southeastern blasted a three-run shot in the top of the fifth, giving the Sharks their first lead. They added one more run in the seventh to pad their lead.
- Tech's offense did not record a hit in the final three innings, falling to Nova Southeastern 7-3.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Miranda Schwartz registered another 2-for-2 night in Game Two.
- Malaya Nelson recorded her second consecutive multi-hit game in the opening game of the doubleheader. She totaled three hits on the afternoon.
- Sammy Murphy almost replicated Alex Hendrian's performance the night before, pitching all seven innings and striking out eight batters while giving up four hits.
- Chloe Fariello went 2-for-3 for her second multi-hit game and pitched four innings, tallying three strikeouts.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Panthers keep the all-time series tied at 37-37 but remain ahead in Melbourne with a 22-15 record.
- It was the Panthers' first win over the Sharks since April 3, 2021, and the first at Nancy Bottge Field since April 13, 2019
- Nelson increased her batting average to .295, which is third on the team. She is currently on an eight-game hit streak.
- Murphy is in the top-10 in the SSC with 42 strikeouts.
UP NEXT: The Panthers are right back on Nancy Bottge Field on Tuesday, March 4, playing No. 6 Wilmington in a doubleheader. The first game is set for a first pitch time of 4 p.m.
