MELBOURNE, Fla. – Starting the week off how they left last week, the Panthers grab two more wins, extending their win streak with eight in a row. Florida Tech softball swept Adelphi, 8-3 and 6-1 on Monday.
GAME ONE:

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Adelphi started strong, loading the bases on two singles and a fielding error. Ellen Tarjan placed a ball in right-center with two outs, bringing home two runs.
- Chloe Fariello and Tech responded, scorching a ball past the left fielder and making it to third base. The next batter, Celeste Casillas, grounded out to shortstop, allowing Fariello to slide safely into home. Florida Tech came out of the first inning down 2-1.
- Despite a triple from Adelphi, Alex Hendrian worked out of the jam. Tech put up a three spot in the bottom of the second to gain the edge over Adelphi.
- Tarjan reappeared for Adelphi, doubling to right center and recording an RBI, drawing within one in a 4-3 game.
- Kelsey Hahn stepped into the circle for the fifth time in six games and made a repeat performance. She started by allowing one hit and striking out three in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
- Tech's offense scored insurance runs in the sixth, pushing the lead too far for Adelphi. Jacqleen Golden sparked the run with her first career and double to left center. Jillian Moeller followed up with a double of her own. Malaya Nelson singled for one run, a sacrifice fly for another, and a Casillas double for the third. The Panthers held an 8-3 lead for the final three outs.
- Adelphi led off the seventh with a hit, but from then on, Hahn shut down Adelphi and added another strikeout. Panthers took Game One 8-3.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Sammy Murphy allowed a hit in the first but produced three flyouts to go unscathed.
- Fariello made it to third on a walk, stole bases, and ground out but would not find home plate.
- Adelphi opened up the scoring again in Game Two with a run in the top of the second.
- The difference in the game came in the bottom of the fourth for Tech after Murphy struck out two batters in the top of the inning. Miranda Schwartz led off with a single, and Haley Rider walked, guiding a three-run inning.
- Murphy registered two more strikeouts in the fifth and kept Adelphi off the scoreboard. The freshman pitcher also did the same in the sixth inning.
- For the second straight game, the Panthers pulled away in the sixth inning. A leadoff and hit-by-pitch had two runners on base for Nelson to bring home. The following batter placed a perfect squeeze bunt for Nelson to find her way home. The Panthers finished the sweep with a 6-1 victory.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
- Malaya Nelson led the way for the Panthers, going 4-for-6 in two games while recording six RBI.
- Chloe Fariello also had four hits, including a triple, two walks, and three steals.
- Jacqleen Golden's double marked her first career hit.
- Kelsey Hahn remained unbeaten, moving to 3-0 in her career, after pitching four innings and striking out four.
- Sammy Murphy pitched her eighth complete game while retiring five batters via strikeout
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Tech earned the first two all-time series wins against Adelphi, as Monday was their first meeting.
- Murphy earned her 50th career strikeout.
- Fariello is a perfect 15-for-15 on stolen base attempts and is eighth in the SSC.
UP NEXT: The Panthers play in the conference on the road against Lynn on March 14 and 15. The opening game of the series is on Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m. ET.
