Panthers Fall in Season-Ending Series at Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla – The Panthers wrapped up their 2025 season on the road, falling in all three games against Barry over the weekend. Despite strong efforts, the Panthers came up short in the series in Miami Shores.

GAME ONE:

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • The Bucs got this game underway in the bottom of the first inning, behind a fly out to right field, putting Barry up 1-0.
  • Akhil Nimmala answered back for the Panthers in the top of the second with a double to right center, bringing home Jaden Hill, tying the game at 1-1.
  • Barry added two more runs in the bottom of the second behind a single from Matthew Menendez and a ground out from Joe Wike that each brought in a run, 3-1.
  • Anthony Fimiano then homered in response in the top of the fourth, and Gabe Garrett induced an error, bringing home Nimmala in the process, tying the game back at 3-3.
  • After a scoreless fifth inning from both sides, in the bottom of the sixth, the Bucs opened the game with a two-run double from Menendez, a sacrifice bunt from Wike that brought in one, and a single from Jimmy Bruno that brought in one, increasing their lead to four at 7-3.
  • To secure the game, the Bucs added on one more run behind a fielder's choice from Wike that brought in one run, pushing the lead up to five, 8-3.
  • In the top of the ninth, after a Conner Wiggins walk, a Garrett single brought Wiggins to second base, but this would be as close as the Panthers got to scoring another run as they took the loss to the Bucs, 8-3.
  • Aidan Lenzen got the start for the Panthers and took the loss, lasting five innings, giving up eight hits and four runs while walking one and striking out three.
  • Ethan Stephens and Tyler Dietz saw time on the mound in relief. Stephens lasted two innings, giving up four hits and three runs while walking one and striking out three. Dietz finished the game's final inning, giving up zero hits and one run while walking two and striking out none.

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • The Bucs started where they left off in game one, getting on the board in the bottom of the first via Felix Diaz stealing home, 1-0.
  • Both teams didn't have any success after that for three innings until in the top of the fourth, Jacob Guthrie grounded out, bringing home Roman Samson in the process, tying the game at 1-1.
  • To follow, Austin Sewell reached first base via a throwing error, and in the confusion, Brett Kelly reached home, giving Tech their first lead in the game, 2-1.
  • Barry wasted no time responding right back in the bottom of the fourth with two runs, the first from a single by Aramis Ramirez, and the second by a solo homer from Diaz, taking the lead back for the Bucs, 3-2.
  • With the bases full in the top of the eighth, Adrian Dominguez walked, sending Samson home for the score.
  • To follow, Carlos Guzman reached first base on a fielder's choice, and in the confusion for the defense, Kelly reached home for the score.
  • Finishing the inning, Conner Wiggins singled down the left field line, bringing home Dominguez and Guthrie for scores, capping off a four-run inning to put Tech back in front 6-3.
  • The Bucs answered back yet again in the bottom of the same inning behind a Joe Wike single scoring two runs, with the bases loaded, two walks brought home two, and a Diaz single brought home two runs to end a six-run response.
  • The Panthers would not deliver another run and suffer the loss, 9-6, ending the season.
  • Trenten Anderson got the start for the Panthers, lasting seven innings, giving up seven hits and three runs while walking two and striking out five.
  • Noah Steckley and Ridge Skarbek saw time on the mound in relief. Steckley took the loss, lasting one and two-thirds innings, giving up three hits and five runs while walking two and striking out one. Skarbek finished the game's final one-third inning, giving up one hit and one run while walking two and striking out none.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS
  • Jacob Guthrie led Tech in hits in the game with three, while Brett Kelly, Roman Samson, and Conner Wiggins finished with two each.
  • Wiggins finished with two RBIs, the most for the Panthers in the game.
  • Samson and Kelly tied for the lead in runs with two for Tech.
