FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's soccer team picks up a draw to open Sunshine State Conference play against RV Nova Southeastern on Saturday, Sept. 20. With the tie, Florida Tech is now 3-1-2 (0-0-1 SSC) while NSU is 4-0-1 (0-0-1 SSC).

GAME NOTES
- Nova Southeastern tallied the first shots of the game in the fourth and fifth minute, both off target of the net.
- Two more Shark shots came the Panthers way including a save by Kaitlin Sinkler.
- The Nova Southeastern defense was stingy against the Tech attack as the Panthers were held without a shot until the 25th minute as Lauryn Wood missed just left of the goal.
- Carolina Falcao had a good look at the NSU net, but the Shark keeper was able to keep Tech off the board.
- The Sharks ripped off two shots in the 42nd minute just seconds apart, but both missed their marks.
- With the clock winding down, NSU fired a shot on goal with two seconds left. A nice save by Sinkler preserved the tie going into half.
- After being held to just two shots in the first half, Florida Tech quickly went to work on the Shark defense with shots from Katie Ormerod and Rio Naganawa.
- Nova Southeastern connect on a couple of passes that turned into shots in the 59th and 60th minute.
- In the 65th minute, Lauryn Wood had some room to work with on a break away as she found the back of the net to give the Panthers the lead on her fourth goal of the season.
- The lead only stood for four minutes as the Sharks had the numbers advantage in the 70th minute. A rebound off a save from Kaitlin Sinkler went Nova Southeastern's way as they tied the match at 1-1.
- Florida Tech had opportunities to score in the 79th and 80th minute, but good defense by the Sharks helped defend two shots by Lauryn Wood.
- Both teams would combine for one shot in the final 10 minutes of play.
- Neither team recorded a shot in the last five minutes off the match as the Sharks and Panthers would earn a tie to start conference play.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- The Panthers had the least number of shots (10) and shots on goal (3) in a match this season.
- Lauryn Wood found the back of the net for the fourth time this season. Her four goals are tied for first in the SSC.
- The Panthers and Sharks have ended in a tie in regulation for the third consecutive match.
- This was the first match of the season where Tech had less shots on goal than the opposition.
