Florida Tech Capsizes Tars in First Conference Victory

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A costly Rollins foul set up a Panthers penalty kick goal, giving Florida Tech the edge in a 2-0 victory. Caio de Amorim de Deus netted both goals, marking the first scores of his career.

STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Each team took two shots around the first five minutes of the match. Nico Marcellusi was the only one to put the ball on goal, but the Rollins keeper saved it.
  • Two more shots on goal from the Panthers came in the 15th minute, but again were saved.
  • After a series of corner kicks, Mario Rekirsch broke free up the middle of the field. As he tried to maneuver past the keeper, he was fouled by Rollins's goalie inside the box, setting up a penalty. Caio Amorim de Deus stepped up to the spot and buried the kick for the game's opening goal at 20:19.
  • Tech's defense held strong despite a barrage of shots from Rollins, holding the 1-0 lead into the break.
  • The second half saw a little action with two shots in the first 26 minutes.
  • Rekirsch spun past two defenders and delivered a cross to Amorim, who finished the play with a strike into the net to put the Panthers ahead 2-0.
  • Rollins shot the ball four more shots, and Panthers' Elias Ronning Orn made two saves before the time ran out.
