MATCH NOTES:
First Set: Florida Tech Panthers 17, Lynn Fighting Knights 25
  • To begin tonight's match, Lynn earned a kill before Cordelia Kearns answered right back with one of her own.
  • The Fighting Knights opened up an early multi-point lead, but kills from Ayisha Missipo and an ace from Natalie Rhodes kept the Panthers within striking distance.
  • In the middle of the first set, Lynn used an 8-2 run to take a 14-7 lead.
  • Not giving in, kills from Kearns and Scarlett Kimbrell plus a block from Elisa Broggio got the Panthers within striking distance.
  • Trailing 20-15, Cordelia Kearns earned another kill and the Panther front row forced a Fighting Knight attack error, but it was not enough to spark a comeback.
Second Set: Florida Tech Panthers 19, Lynn Fighting Knights 25
  • Natalie Rhodes got the second set started with her second ace of the match and both sides began trading points.
  • Tech got kills from Missipo, Kearns and Broggio as they stayed neck and neck with the Fighting Knights through the first ten points.
  • Unfortunately for the Panthers, it was Lynn who gained the first big lead of the set, using a 5-1 run to take an 11-6 lead.
  • After a Lynn service error, Kearns earned back-to-back kills to cut the deficit in half.
  • Following a string of long rallies, the Fighting Knights re-grew their lead back to five points and both sides again began trading points.
  • While Tech was able to once again cut the Lynn lead in half, they were never able to find a big run to truly close the gap.
  • Kearns added more kills to her match total and Isabelle Clark got on the board, but Lynn took the second set and a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set: Florida Tech Panthers 25, Lynn Fighting Knights 27
  • Cordelia Kearns earned her tenth kill of the match in her first swing of the third set and after Isabelle Clark did the same, Tech led 2-1 early.
  • Despite Lynn answering every point, Tech stayed out front by one point with kills from Ayisha Missipo and an ace from Hanna Schneider.
  • The third set continued to stay close with the scoreline tied for twelve straight points, 6-6 to 12-12.
  • More kills from Missipo and Clark kept the Panthers out front, but the set remained tied at 14-14.
  • However, just like the second set, it was Lynn who earned the set's first multi-point lead at 18-16.
  • Cordelia Kearns and Isabelle Clark sparked a 3-1 run for the Panthers as they worked to tie the set back up at 19-19.
  • Kearns continued to swing hard as she picked up her third kill in four points to retake the lead 20-19.
  • Following a Lynn point, Ayisha Missipo found the back right corner of the court for a kill and the third set saw its 17th tie score.
  • Lynn retook the lead 23-21, but Missipo again came up big with a kill and Scarlett Kimbrell produced an even bigger solo block to tie the set back up at 23-23
  • With how close the third set had been, it was only right that the Panthers once again erased a deficit to force extra points.
  • Despite the grit and hard effort from the Panthers, it was Lynn who broke through to win the set and the match.
