GAME NOTES
  • The Panthers scored on the game's first chance less than three minutes in when Anae Malbete played a perfect pass over the Griffin defense that found Ellinor Blaasternes at the top of the area with just the keeper to beat and did so with a shot to the keeper's right to give Tech the lead.
  • Malbete nearly doubled the lead three minutes later when she hit the post and Maria Rojas' rebound went wide.
  • Alice Mottershead looked to add to the advantage in the ninth minute but her shot from distance was saved.
  • Mette Brandes was called into action for the first time in the 32nd minute when Westminster had a scoring chance materialize at the top of the area from a free kick but Brandes was able to easily deal with the shot.
  • About a minute later, a giveaway by Tech in their own end could've allowed Westminster to equalize but the Panthers were able to put a body in front of three different attempts and not allow a shot on target.
  • Brandes came up big again in the 48th minute as she palmed a Westminster shot from outside the area over the bar. The ensuing corner for the Griffins came to nothing and the Crimson and Gray maintained its 1-0 lead. The game's last scoring chance came with three and a half minutes remaining as Brandes stood tall for her third and final save of the afternoon, stopping a long-distance curling effort.
