MELBOURNE, FLA. - In this edition of Beyond the Game, we are featuring Sonia Peters from Florida Tech Women's Swimming. Peters is a Junior, Marine Biology major from Brookhaven, Georgia.

What is your major at Florida Tech and why did you choose it?
I am a Marine Biology major and I chose this path because I love the ocean and I wanted a career with hands-on experience.
What is one thing about Marine Biology that made you pick that major?
Marine Biology allows me to do real-life research. I have always been interested in marine mammals, so that was something that caught my attention.
At Florida Tech, do you have a favorite class or Professor?
My favorite class is field work ecology because it introduced me to the research side of my major. My favorite professor is definitely Dr. T.
What are your plans after you graduate from Florida Tech?
I want to start my career in marine mammal research, but it could always change.
How have academics here at Florida Tech helped you grow as a person?
The academics at Florida Tech have helped me grow in my time management skills and my resilience as a Scholar-Athlete.
What advice would you give to an incoming Freshman coming into Florida Tech?
Come into school with an open mind, you may change your plans or major, but everyone here is there to support you.
