Craig Hits 100 Career Goals, Panthers Fall to No. 9 Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Tech women's lacrosse falls to No. 9 Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Feb. 21. The Panthers are now 1-3 while the Eagles improve to 2-0.

GAME NOTES
FIRST QUARTER
  • Gillian Craig got the scoring started for the Panthers will a goal within the first 21 seconds of the game, assisted by Sophia Scichilone.
  • Embry-Riddle responded with a free position goal two minutes later.
  • ERAU truck again with a second free position goal at the 11:02 mark.
  • Scichilone tied the game at 2-2 with a goal with 7:23 remaining on the clock.
  • Shortly after, the Eagles hit back-to-back goals.
  • After a goal by Embry-Riddle, Craig and Scichilone connected for the Panthers third goal of the quarter, Craig's second of the game.
  • With 30 seconds left in the period, ERAU found the back of the net to extend their lead to 6-3.
SECOND QUARTER
  • Embry-Riddle kept their momentum going as they started the scoring in the second quarter.
  • Abby Cudzilo got Tech back on the board at 9:47 with an assist by Sofie Bender.
  • After two goals by ERAU, Gillian Craig secured her hat trick with a goal with four minutes remaining in the half.
  • Tech shrunk the Eagle lead to three as Craig hit her fourth goal of the half off an assist by Cudzilo.
  • Bridget Robinson saved four shots in the quarter.
THIRD QUARTER
  • Embry-Riddle came out of the half with a 3-0 run as they extended their lead to 12-6.
  • After a Florida Tech goal by Sophia Scichilone, ERAU went on a 4-0 run as they out-scored Tech 7-1 in the quarter. 
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Embry-Riddle remained on the attack as they scored two goals to open the fourth quarter.
  • Phoebe Hurt stopped Embry-Riddle's 9-1 run with a goal with just 10 minutes left in the game.
  • FT kept fighting as Clare McGuire scored a man-up, free position goal.
  • Craig would add on her fifth goal of the afternoon, but Embry-Riddle was able to close out the Panthers.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE UP NEXT
The Panthers will travel to Colorado for the next game as they take on No. 14 Regis on Thursday, Feb. 14. Game is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. MST/7:00 p.m. EST.
