Panthers Ride Early Lead to 8–4 Win Over Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla. – Florida Tech built an early lead and used a big performance from Emma Chisholm at the plate to defeat Nova Southeastern 8–4. Chisholm powered the Panthers' offense with a three-run home run, a double, and three RBI as Florida Tech added timely insurance runs to hold off the Sharks.

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Tech jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Chloe Fariello walked, stole second, and later scored on a passed ball before Jillian Moeller drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2–0.
  • Terito added another run for the Panthers, striking an RBI single to center field to bring Emma Chisholm home who doubled.
  • Nova Southeastern answered in the bottom of the third when the Sharks hit a two-run home run to cut the Panthers' lead to 3–2.
  • Chisholm responded immediately in the fourth inning when she crushed a three-run dinger after a walk by Ella Niles and a bunt single from Fariello, pushing the lead to 6–2.
  • The Sharks picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to make it 6–3.
  • The Panthers added insurance in the sixth inning when Miranda Schwartz scored after Chisholm doubled and advanced on a throwing error, and Kate Rodel followed with an RBI single to make it 8–3.
  • Nova Southeastern got one back in the sixth with the second solo home run of the game, cutting the deficit to 8–4.
  • Florida Tech closed out the game in the seventh inning by retiring the final three hitters to secure the 8–4 victory.
NOTABLE PANTHERS:
  • Emma Chisholm had a three-hit game with all of them being extra-base hits, including a three-run shot to left field.
  • Sammy Murphy earned the win, pitching a complete game with seven punchouts.
 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Tech moved in front in the all-time series at 38-37.
  • Chisholm's home run in the fourth inning is her 11th of the season and gives her sole possession of second-most home runs in a single season by a Panther.
