GAME NOTES:
- AJ Wydra was on the bump for the Panthers and sat down the first three batters he faced.
- In the bottom of the second, Lynn loaded the bases with zero outs. They used a sac fly and back-to-back two-out hits to strike first and push four runs across.
- Lynn added another in the third to take a 5-0 lead early in the ball game.
- Adrian Dominguez and Brian Perez earned the first Panther hits of the game in the top of the fourth but were left stranded.
- The Fighting Knights scored for a third straight inning, loading the bases again and pushing across another run.
- Despite the deficit, the Panthers were within striking distance thanks to three double plays from the defense.
- Trying to spark a response, Marshall Burke and William Rollings led off the top of the fifth with two straight hits. After Tech loaded the bases with a Tyler McClanahan walk, Dylan Fatovich sent a no-doubt grand slam over the scoreboard in right field to pull the Panthers within two.
- The inning was not over yet for the Panther bats, Anthony Fimiano walked and came around to score off a Brian Perez sacrifice fly, cutting the Lynn lead down to 6-5.
- Unfortunately for Tech, the Fighting Knights responded right away by tacking on another run in the bottom of the fifth and adding another in the seventh to push their advantage to 8-5.
- The Lynn lead grew again in the bottom of the eighth as they put up another run to take a four-run advantage into the ninth inning.
- The Panthers were unable to find any more offensive momentum as the Fighting Knights took the first game of the season.
FINAL: Florida Tech Panthers 5, Lynn 9
