OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Florida Tech men's rowing crew was back in action on Saturday, Apr. 18 for the SIRA Championships.
The Panthers competed in two events including the varsity 8+ and the second varsity 8+.
Tech's second varsity 8+ placed fourth in the semis with a time of 6:24.686. They finished ahead of Georgia Tech while they were just behind Jacksonville, Notre Dame and Purdue.
The varsity 8+ advanced with a time of 6:12.415 which placed them in second. They beat out Rollins, Clemson and Alabama while they only finished behind Virginia.
The second varsity 8+ punched their ticket to the "A" final as they finished third with a time of 6:32.621. They were ahead of Purdue, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Clemson.
Florida Tech's great day continued as the varsity 8+ advanced to the "B" final with a time of 5:59.890 as they defeated WashU, Clemson and Georgia.
Both Teams will be back in action Sunday, Apr. 19 for the finals at Milton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
