CAMDEN, N.J. – Florida Tech Men's crew was back in action today to compete in the 2026 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta. The Panthers hit the water in the morning for the time trials before rowing the C-Final later in the evening.
Tech's 2
nd Varsity 8+ boat began the day by earning 14
th place with a time of 06:04.515, finishing before Hobart University. In the 2
nd Varsity 8+ C-final, the Panthers battled through choppy waters to finish with a time of 06:20.660, placing third behind Hobart and Jacksonville.
Florida Tech's Varsity 8+ boat finished their trial with a time of 05:42.591, good enough for a 14
th place. The Panther finished just three seconds behind the 12
th-place qualifying time of 05:29.659 from San Diego and only five seconds behind 9
th-place Santa Clara, who posted a 0:37.381. The Panthers rowed faster than in state rival Stetson and multiple other Division I institutions (Fairfield, Mercyhurst, Iona, and Hobart).
Wrapping up the action for the day, the Panthers placed 5
th in the Varsity 8+ C-final, crossing the finish at 06:01.780. Tech beat Fairfield and Iona for the second time today and finished just behind Mercyhurst (05:58.120), Embry-Riddle (05:57.920), Stetson (05:54.750) and Hobart (05:49.840).
UP NEXT: Panther Men's Crew will now turn their attention to the IRA National Championship Regatta at the end of May. Florida Tech will compete in the Varsity 4 starting on May 29
th, with the competition running through the 31
st.
