LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY - The American Volleyball Coaches Association has announced the launch of the AVCA Ambassador Tour, a new initiative designed to leverage volleyball as a platform for service, community development, and competitive engagement. Florida Tech's
Cordelia Kearns has been selected to join in this historic initiative. The group of ten All-Americans across the NCAA will travel to Africa for nearly two weeks.
The inaugural AVCA Ambassador Tour, scheduled for June 15–25, 2026, will serve as ambassadors for the sport of volleyball and engage with local communities in Tanzania and Kenya. The goal of the trip is to help foster meaningful connections across the globe and help grow the game in a creative and meaningful way.
Cordelia Kearns will join this group after a 2025 campaign in which she solidified herself as one of the best players in the country, earning First Team All-American honors for the second year in a row. Off the field, Kearns is always looking for ways to impact her community, and now has the opportunity to take that spirit to the next level.
Kearns had this to say about the AVCA Ambassadors trip, "I am super excited for this opportunity and the chance to give back to the volleyball community that has supported me through so much. Getting the opportunity to travel and experience different places and cultures is a blessing that I would never have been able to participate in if it were not for Florida Tech and my amazing coaches and support system."
Head Coach
Jordan Willis on
Cordelia Kearns being selected to join the group, "I can't think of a better person to represent our program on the AVCA Ambassador trip. As great of a player as Cordelia is, she's an excellent choice to represent the goodwill of the sport of volleyball."
"This is about using volleyball as a vehicle for connection, leadership, and impact," said AVCA CEO Dr. Jaime Gordon. "The AVCA Ambassador Tour brings together some of the top student-athletes in the country to serve as ambassadors of the sport to share knowledge, build relationships, and compete at a high level while helping grow volleyball."
Because the AVCA Ambassador group is composed of standout collegiate players representing all three NCAA divisions, the unique roster reflects the breadth and depth of collegiate volleyball. Throughout the tour, these athletes will not only compete against local and regional teams but will also participate in:
- Youth volleyball clinics
- Coaching education sessions
- Community engagement initiatives
- Leadership and cultural exchange opportunities
