MELBOURNE, Fla. –  The Florida Tech men's soccer team began the 2026 campaign on Thursday at Rick Stottler Field against Emory & Henry. Two goals in the first half proved the difference as the Wasps defeated the Panthers, 3-1 on Rick Stottler Field.

GAME NOTES
• The Wasps scored on the game's first chance in the 14^th minute when their forward was fouled inside the penalty area. E&H converted the penalty with a shot into the bottom left corner to give Emory and Henry the advantage.
• E&H had an opportunity to double their lead in the 20^th minute, only for Elias Ronning Orn to deny the opponent's shot from distance.
• The Wasps struck for a second just before the intermission on a strike from the edge of the penalty area stayed just underneath the crossbar to make it 2-0 with 28 seconds remaining.
• Wasps' lead extended to 3-0 just under two minutes into the second half when he converted on a failed clearance.
• The Panthers recorded their first shot on target in the 49^th minute when William Kennedy's shot from just outside the area was saved.
• Logan Collins registered Florida Tech's first tally of the season in the 58^th minute by getting on the end of a Nikolai Gabrielsen cross and finding the back of the net.
• Collins nearly added a second two minutes later on a counter only to see his effort hit the post. Collins was able to follow the ball in attempt to put home his own rebound only for it to be cleared by an E&H defender.
• Matteo Tzimas saw his shot blocked in the area in the 71^st minute and Matteo Ghiradelli's shot went wide two minutes later.
• Ronning Orn denied a 1v1 with just under 10 minutes remaining to keep the possibility of a comeback alive.
•  On the Crimson and Gray's ensuing possession, Collins very nearly made the save have some larger weight, only for his shot to go just wide.
• Tech's last attempt to make the comeback realistic came with just under three minutes remaining when Alvaro Ivorra Ronda just missed converting a corner kick.
 
NOTABLE PANTHERS
•  Elias Ronning Orn made six saves on the night. 
• Logan Collins' goal was the eighth of his Florida Tech career and it also marked the second consecutive season opener in which he got on the score sheet.  
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Florida Tech is 12-10-2 all-time against the SAC.
