Kennedy's Late Strike Seals Victory Over the Lions

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A late-game thriller saw Florida Tech men's soccer come out on top with a 3-2 victory over Saint Leo on Saturday night at Rick Stottler Field. William Kennedy delivered the deciding goal in the 89th minute as the Panthers secured their second straight Sunshine State Conference victory.

GAME NOTES
  • Saint Leo recorded the first chance of the match in the second minute before Francesco Micheli put Tech's first shot on goal in the 11th minute, forcing a save from the Lions' keeper.
  • The Panthers continued to create opportunities as Nikolai Gabrielsen and Tobias Vik Asbo each recorded shots in the 16th minute.
  • William Kennedy put another attempt on frame in the 24th minute, but the keeper made the save to keep the match scoreless.
  • Elias Ronning Orn made his first save of the night in the 29th minute, stopping a shot to keep Saint Leo off the board.
  • Caio de Amorim de Deus generated two chances late in the half, including a shot on goal in the 45th minute that was saved
  • Neither side was able to break through as the Panthers and Lions entered halftime scoreless, 0-0.
  • Florida Tech broke the scoreless tie in the 55th minute as Francesco Micheli found the back of the net off an assist from the head of Paulo Manaia to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
  • Max May forced a save before William Kennedy struck the right post in the 61st minute.
  • Saint Leo equalized in the 79th minute on a goal, making it 1-1.
  • The Panthers responded less than three minutes later as Marius Brandmayr scored off a Kacper Gosciniarek free kick in the 82nd minute to regain a 2-1 advantage.
  • However, the Lions answered once again in the 85th minute, finding the net to even the match at 2-2.
  • With just over a minute remaining, William Kennedy delivered the game-winner in the 89th minute, putting the Panthers ahead 3-2.
  • Elias Ronning Orn made a save in the final minute to preserve the lead as Florida Tech secured the 3-2 victory.
