Pueblo, Colo. – Florida Tech Volleyball traveled west this weekend to compete in the Royce Cappis Invitational hosted by CSU-Pueblo. This weekend's four-game round-robin began with a doubleheader for the Panthers against Adelphi and CSU-Pueblo.

MATCH NOTES:
First Set: Florida Tech 25, Adelphi 22
- The first set began with Adelphi winning the first two points before a service error got Tech on the board.
- Isabelle Clark earned the first Florida Tech kill of the match but Adelphi still led 4-2 early.
- An Adelphi attack error sparked a 6-1 run from Tech as they took their first lead of the match at 8-5. Two huge blocks from Abby Koenen and Scarlett Kimbrell, plus kills from Cordelia Kearns finished off the run and kept Florida Tech out in front by multiple points.
- Adelphi got back into the set to pull within two points but another run from Tech (5-1) pushed the advantage to 15-10. Natalie Rhodes produced back-to-back service aces, Elisa Broggio and Kearns earned kills and Isabelle Clark continued her strong start to the match.
- With all the momentum in the set, Tech stayed up by multiple points and looked to take 1-0 lead in the match.
- While Adelphi battled back, it was too little, too late as kills from Kearns and Clark finished the set.
Second Set: Florida Tech 27, Adelphi 25
- While Adelphi earned the first point of the second set, Tech responded with a 6-0 run to keep the momentum on their side. Hannah Schnieder picked up her first ace of the match and Cordelia Kearns launched three strong kills in the run.
- AU put an end to the unanswered run, but Tech came right back with another string of points to take a 12-7 lead.
- Following a few long rallies, Adelphi earned their first big run of the match to tie the match up at 13-13.
- Back-to-back kills from Isabelle Clark put the Panthers back in front and both sides began trading points again.
- More kills from Cordelia Kearns and tough defense from the Panther back row put tech back up by multiple points, 18-16.
- Once again, Adelphi answered to tie the match and once again, Tech pulled away with a Kearns kill and a Brooke Menke service ace.
- The Tech lead grew to three after Dora Filipovich picked up her first kill of the match.
- Despite leading 21-18, Adelphi battled to tie the set up at 24-24 to send the set into extra points.
- Not fazed by the late comeback attempt, Tech got a kill from Cordelia Kearns and forced an Adelphi attack error to win the set and go up 2-0 in the match.
Third Set: Florida Tech 16, Adelphi 25
- After taking a 2-0 lead, the Panthers knew Adelphi was going to throw everything they could to get back into the match. With the set tied 4-4, Adelphi went on an 8-2 run to take control of the set.
- Down 12-6, Tech began chipping away at the deficit. Kills from Elisa Broggio and back-to-back solo blocks from Isabelle Clark cut the lead in half.
- However, after cutting the lead to 13-10, Adelphi got back on the board and pushed their advantage back to six points.
- Clark and Kearns added more kills but the deficit was too big to overcome as Adelphi won their first set of the match.
Fourth Set: Florida Tech 23, Adelphi 25
- Needing a big response after dropping the last set, the Panthers got a big block from Koenen and Clark plus kills from Broggio and Kearns as they stormed out to a 7-4 lead.
- Tech got a big time kills from Scarlett Kimbrell and Ayisha Missipo as the Panthers stayed out front.
- While Tech never gave up the lead, Adelphi worked their way back into the set, tying the scoreline multiple times.
- Back-to-back kills from Clark and another service ace from Hanna Schneider re-gave the Panthers a multi-point lead.
- Unfortunately for Tech, Adelphi used a 9-1 run to storm back and take control of the set and lead 19-14.
- Kills from Kearns and Kimbrell, with errors from AU cut the deficit to two points, but Adelphi held on to force a fifth set.
Fifth Set: Florida Tech 15, Adelphi 12
- To begin the final set, the Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a service ace from Isabelle Clark and two errors from Adelphi.
- Adelphi responded with three straight points of their own to tie the set, however, an Abby Koenen kill put Tech back in front.
- Both sides began trading points, but it was Florida Tech who held a multi-point advantage midway through the fifth set at 9-7.
- More errors from Adelphi and kills from Kimbrell and Missipo put Tech just three points from victory at 12-10.
- A Cordelia Kearns kill followed by a solo block from Clark and an attack error from Adelphi allowed Tech to win the match and be 1-0 in Colorado.

First Set: Florida Tech 22, CSU-Pueblo 25
- CSU-Pueblo earned the first point of the match before Elisa Broggio earned Tech's first point with a kill.
- The start to the set did not go in the Panthers favor as the Thunderwolves opened up a 7-3 lead.
- Three straight kills from Cordelia Kearns and Abby Koenen got the Panthers back in the set and then some.
- Following the kills and a Thunderwolves point, the Panthers picked up four more kills (Kearns, Koenen, Kimbrell) in a row, a service ace (Natalie Rhodes) and another Kearns kill to spark a 6-0 run and take the lead, 13-8.
- While CSUP went on a small run to cut the deficit, kills from Broggio and Ayisha Missipo kept Tech out front.
- The Thunderwolves run continued despite Panther points as they worked to tie the set at 18-18.
- Despite a Kearns kill, Pueblo used a 3-0 run to take a 21-19 lead into the final points of the set.
- Using three errors by the Thunderwolves, the Panthers pulled even at 22-22.
- However, CSU-Pueblo used two Panther errors to get back in front and close out the first set.
Second Set: Florida Tech 28, CSU-Pueblo 30
- Needing a response, Isabelle Clark grabbed the second set's first kill in emphatic style.
- Kearns added her seventh kill in the match, but Pueblo continued to roll as they began to pull away early.
- Down 7-4, Kearns earned another kill and the Panther front row blockers forced three attack errors as Tech stormed back to take the lead.
- Ayisha Missipo earned a kill but a 4-0 run from CSUP had Tech trailing 12-9.
- The Thunderwolves pushed their advantage to 18-13, but a big block from Scarlett Kimbrell attempted to spark a comeback for the Panthers.
- After both teams traded points, the Panthers got their run. Back-to-back kills from Kearns and another block from Kimbrell wielded the Panthers to trail by a single point at 21-20.
- The block party continued at Elisa Broggio earned a solo block and Kimbrell and Koenen combined for another as Tech took their first lead of the set at 22-21.
- Both teams again went back and forth as the set reached extra points knotted at 24-24.
- The scoreline reached 26-26 and 28-28 as each team failed to close the door on the other.
- While the Panthers never gave in, Pueblo earned a kill and a service ace to win the set and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Third Set: Florida Tech 25, CSU-Pueblo 18
- Down 2-0, the Panthers were in need of an answer. However, after earning the sets first point, the Thunderwolves ripped off a 6-0 run to take an early lead.
- A Cordelia Kearns kill and a pair of attack errors finally sparked a Tech run as they pulled to within a point at 7-6.
- The run continued with back-to-back kills from Kearns igniting a 10-2 run that also included a pair of service aces from Brooke Menke and kills from Scarlett Kimbrell.
- With Tech leading 16-9, Pueblo started a comeback of their own and cut the Panther lead to just two points at 18-16.
- Needing to put an end to the run, Cordelia Kearns stepped up and delivered two huge swings to end the run.
- Natalie Rhodes produced another service ace, Kimbrell and Broggio earned a block, and Kearns added another kill as Tech kept the match alive by taking set three.
Fourth Set: Florida Tech 22, CSU-Pueblo 25
- After forcing a fourth set, the Panthers looked to keep the momentum going. Isabelle Clark got Tech on the board with a solo block and Kearns picked up her season-high 24th kill of the match.
- Despite the strong start, it was Pueblo that held the early lead as they led 5-3 in the early stages of the set.
- Tech got right back in the set with another combined block from Kimbrell and Broggio, aided by a Pueblo attack error that tied it at 5-5.
- While it looked like Tech was retaking the momentum, Pueblo sparked a 5-1 run to regrow their lead to 10-5.
- Both sides began trading points as the lead remained in the Thunderwolves favor, 15-11.
- The Panthers attempted another mid-set comeback with a solo block and kill from Isabelle Clark. Paired with errors from Pueblo, Tech cut the lead and half to only trail 17-15.
- Both sides again traded points but another huge block from Clark pulled Tech to within one at 20-19.
- The comeback effort was valiant, but Pueblo was able to find the final points of the set to close out the match.
UP NEXT: The Panthers will stay in Colorado to finish out the Royce Cappis Invitational. Tech will play Fort Lewis at 10:15 AM and Minnesota Duluth at 2:45 PM (All times in Mountain Time).
