Biography

2014: Played in 41 games making 36 starts as a senior…hit with a .262 average, and recorded 34 hits in 130 at bats…record 20 RBIs and scored 16 runs…tied for the team lead with seven home runs…hit two home runs against Montevallo on March 25…also hit seven doubles…had a .979 fielding percentage…had eight multi-hit and four-multi RBI games…named to the SSC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2013: Appeared in 38 games with 22 starts…batted .246 with a .311 on base percentage and .432 slugging percentages…collected 29 runs batted in to rank third on the team…tied for first on the squad in triples (2) and ranked third in doubles (12)…went 2-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored in a contest against Barry (2/19)…added a 2-for-4 performance with four RBIs and a run in the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament against Tampa (5/17)…did not make a single error and recorded 46 putouts to lead the Panthers with a 1.000 fielding percentage. 

2012: Appeared in 35 games, started 30…scored 22 runs while recording nine doubles, one triple and 10 RBIs…posted a .920 fielding percentage with 76 putouts…went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored in an 11-2 victory over Eckerd (3/31)…had an OBP of .322 and slugging percentage of .317.

2011: Appeared in 49 games, started 49…had 175 at-bats, scored 30 runs and had 10 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 31 RBIs…had the fifth most hits on the team, 45...went 9-for-11 in stolen bases…only committed three errors as he posted a .990 fielding percentage with 285 putouts…helped contribute to an 8-0 win against Tampa (3/25) by going 3-for-3 with one run scored, one double, one walk, one hit-by-pitch and nine putouts.

High School: Drafted by Colorado in the 36th round (1,100th overall) of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft…attended Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Fla…earned three varsity letters in baseball for the Sailors…during his senior year, he batted .373 with six home runs, 10 doubles and 23 RBIs…did not commit a single error…awarded ABC7 Athlete of the Week (4/24/10), District 7 Player of the Year, Sarasota Tribune All-Area Baseball Player of the Year, Ronald K. Drews Memorial Award and earned a spot on the Sarasota Baseball Classic Tournament Team, all in 2010…helped Sailors win the classic tournament championship twice…selected to the 2010 Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Baseball Team.

Travel Ball: Played for the Akadema Raiders…team won the AAU National Championship in 2009.

Personal: Son of Jimmie and Donna Koch…chose Florida Tech for its strong academics and baseball program…after his Panther career, he would like to play professional baseball…enjoys working out, playing cornhole and video games…favorite sport is baseball and favorite athlete is Nick Swisher…enjoys watching “Old School” featuring his favorite actor, Will Ferrell...favorite music is alternative and favorite band is Rise Against…enjoys vacationing in the Bahamas…would like to visit Bora Bora.
