2011: Drafted in 24th round, 740th pick overall, by St. Louis Cardinals in MLB First-Year Player Draft...ended his career having owned program records for career strikeouts (356), career complete games (12), single-season strikeouts (129) and single-season strikeouts per nine innings (11.8 in 2011)...his 129 strikeouts in 2011 tied for most in NCAA Division II...also finished career ranked second in fewest hits per nine innings (6.4, 2011), second in opponent batting average (.201, 2011 and 2009), second in strikeouts per nine innings (11.7, 2009), sixth in fewest walks per nine innings (1.5, 2009), eighth in ERA (2.19, 2009) and eighth in wins (8, 2010 and 2011)...named Daktronics All-South Region First Team, Capital One Academic All-District First Team, American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team, All-Sunshine State Conference First Team and Florida Tech’s Co-Male Athlete of the Year...a semifinalist for Tino Martinez Award and tabbed an All-Star by College Baseball Lineup...finished season with a 8-1 record, one save and a 2.39 ERA...surrendered 70 hits in 98 innings...recorded 10 or more strikeouts in six games, including a 13-strikeout outing in a complete game one-hitter at Eckerd (4/8)...permitted two runs or less in 10 of his 13 outings...most hits he allowed in a single-game were eight. 2010: Named to Daktronics All-South Region Team, NCBWA All-South Region, NCAA ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team and All-SSC First Team…collected a Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week award (4/24)…named to Athletic Director’s Honor Roll…made 13 starts on the mound…went 8-4 with a 4.17 ERA…allowed only 44 runs (42 earned) in 90.2 innings pitched...led the staff with 95 strikeouts, second most in the Sunshine State Conference…ranked first in the Sunshine State Conference for batters struck out looking with 36…only gave up 23 walks…threw three complete games, including one shutout…held opposing batters to a .251 batting average.Â
2009: Made eight starts on the bump for the Panthers…led the staff with a miniscule 2.19 ERA…posted a 5-2 record, went the distance one time and notched one shutout...also registered two combined shutouts…in 53.1 innings, he gave up 19 runs, only 13 were earned, while walking just nine and striking out 69…held opponents to a .201 batting average.
Florida Tech: Had a stellar game to kick off the 2008 season, issuing 11 Ks in seven innings to earn him SSC Pitcher of the Week honors before suffering a shoulder injury... attempted to throw one more game in late March, but then was sidelined for the season... was 6-2 as a freshman in 12 starts and 13 overall appearances with an ERA of 4.13... tied for the most starts on the team and recorded one shutout and one save... was third on the team with 52 strikeouts.
High School: Graduated from Land O’ Lakes High School, home of the Gators… played basketball in addition to baseball in school… as a junior he went 6-3, made second team all-conference and threw a no-hitter… as a senior he went 6-3, again made second team all-conference and recorded a one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts.
Personal: Son of Jeff and Lisa Cornelius...majoring in business administration and chose to attend Florida Tech because of his scholarship offer, its good education and location...hopes to graduate with a 3.5 GPA or better and wants to play professional baseball after college.
