Biography

2015-16: First player from Sunshine State Conference to be named to Allstate NABC Good Works Team...CoSIDA Academic All-District...appeared in all 29 games, making five starts...averaged 5.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 20.4 minutes per game...shot 40.9% from the field and 91.5% from the free throw line...scored in double-figures in seven contests...poured in six points in the final 1:06 to lead the Panthers to a 75-72 upset at Rollins (2/13)...tallied a season-high 14 points in a 97-91 win over Flagler (12/14)...pulled down a season-high seven rebounds versus Embry-Riddle (1/23)...recorded a season-high five assists on Senior Night against Palm Beach Atlantic (2/24)...placed on FIT Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

2014-15: Named to the National Association Basketball Coaches Honor Court...selected to the SSC Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll...appeared in 28 games...totaled 50 points, 34 rebounds and 10 assists.

2013-14:  Has seen action in all 29 games, starting two... first career start vs. PBA (2/19)... six points, four rebounds and three assists vs. Rollins (1/8)... eight points, three steals and three rebounds off of the bench vs. Paine (11/9)... five points, two assists, two steals and one rebound vs. North Greenville (12/20)... hit a three-pointer in both games of the Florida Tech Holiday Classic (12/20 vs. North Greenville and 12/21 vs. LeMoyne-Owen)... five points, two rebounds and two assists vs. NSU (1/22)... eight points, two steals, two assists and two rebounds vs. Eckerd (1/25)... five points and three assists at Barry (1/29)... nine points on 4-of-9 from the field with six rebounds vs. Saint Leo (2/5)... career-high 15 points (5-of-8 FG), five rebounds, three assists and two steals vs. No. 10 Florida Southern (2/15)... four points, one block and one steal vs. Barry (3/1)... averaged 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists.

2012-13: Named to Athletic Director’s Honor Roll… did not appear in any games due to injury, retaining sophomore eligibility.

2011-12: Named to Sunshine State Conference Spring Honor Roll and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll… appeared in nine games during his freshman season… scored a season-high six points in a pair of games against Puerto Rico-Bayamon (11/18) and Trinity (12/19)… shot 55.6 percent from the field while going 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

High School: Attended Monarch High School in Louisville, Colo… played basketball, football and baseball and ran track… averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game… second in Colorado 5A in assists… all-state honorable mention, first team all-conference and first team all-region in basketball… selected all-conference in baseball.

Personal: Son of Van and Susan Spence… chose Florida Tech because of its academics, its location and Coach Mims… post-graduate goal is to work for an aerospace company in Colorado… enjoys anything active and outdoor... favorite sport is basketball… favorite athlete is Derek Jeter… admires his dad because he taught him everything he knows and was always a coach when he was young… also admires his mom because of her support… favorite quotes are “refuse to fail” and “impossible is nothing”… favorite book is “The Life You Imagine”… favorite actor is Vince Vaughn… likes country music… favorite band is the Zac Brown Band… enjoys vacationing anywhere with a beach or on a  cruise line… would like to visit Hawaii.
