High School: Attended Stanton College Prep in Jacksonville, Florida...earned one varsity letter as a member of the rowing team.

Club: Rowed with the First Coast Rowing Club for six years...named Most Improved...helped team win multiple medals from various regattas.

Personal: Son of Keith and Claudia Portell...has one brother, Drew...chose Florida Tech because of its rowing program, the academics and the campus.
