Biography
2016: Appeared in all 13 games, making 11 starts...collected 20 ground balls and 12 draw controls...recorded five ground balls and one caused turnover vs. North Greenville (Feb. 13)...hauled in three ground balls and three caused turnovers against Lenoir-Rhyne (Feb. 26).
2015: Appeared in all 16 games, making 10 starts…finished season with 32 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers…recorded a season-high five ground balls and one caused turnover in a 12-9 road victory over No. 15 Wheeling Jesuit (March 9)…collected three groundballs and three caused turnovers in a 11-7 win against Florida Southern (April 11).
2014: Appeared in 11 games, starting all 11… earned All-SSC Second Team and All-SSC Freshman Team honors after recording 25 ground balls and forcing 12 turnovers… 12 turnovers are tied for second most in FIT single season history and the most by a freshman in the school's three-year history… forced three turnovers and collected two ground balls in his collegiate debut at Belmont Abbey College… two or more forced turnovers five times this season, including four in the final two games of the season… five ground balls and two forced turnovers in 19-5 win over Lynn University (April 5)… 13 ground balls in Florida Tech's final three games of the season.
High School: Four-year letterman for the Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School’s lacrosse and soccer teams… named third team all-Catholic PIAA and to the all-Catholic PIAA Honor Roll.
Personal: Full name is Michael Cherry… son of Alan and Karen Cherry… has a younger sister, Morgan… wants to become a civil engineer… chose Florida Tech because he would receive a degree from an exceptional engineering school… admires his father because of his influence on and off of the lacrosse field.
