Biography

2017: Named All-SSC Second Team... Started all 50 games played... Ended season with a .330 batting average, a slugging percentage of .576 and an on-base percentage of .442... Accumulated 63 hits, of which 12 were doubles, one triple and 11 home runs... Collected 45 runs batted in and 50 runs scored in 191 at bats... Ranked 4th in SSC for walks (38)... Recorded a season-high of four RBIs against Saint Leo (Apr. 22)... Registered a season-high of two home runs in win over Tampa (Mar. 31).

2016: ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-South Region Second Team...Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference...started in all 50 games in right field as a sophomore...batted .379 with five home runs, a team-high 49 RBIs and 48 runs scored...slugged .568...converted 6-of-7 stolen base attempts...tallied three outfield assists...notched nine games with at least three hits...ranked tied for sixth in SSC in doubles (18), tied for seventh in hits (78), and ninth in fielding percentage (.989)...registered a season-high five RBIs against Assumption (3/6)...went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored versus Palm Beach Atlantic (3/18)...selected to play in the summer for the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaskan Collegiate League.

2015: Appeared in all 51 games, making 48 starts as a freshman...selected to the NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team...hit .264 with one home run, 25 RBIs and 28 runs scored...recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in right field...swiped four bases in five total attempts...logged a .346 on-base percentage...went 4-for-5 in an 8-1 win over Caldwell (3/19)...tallied a season-high three RBIs against Pace (2/14).

High School: Attended Michael Power High School in Toronto, Canada…helped team win 2012 Ontario Regional Championship…named MVP.

Club: Played four years with the Ontario Blue Jays in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada…hit with a .403 average.

Personal: Son of John Szpik and Mary Lou Caden…has one brother, Michael…chose Florida tech to further his baseball career and the academic programs…admires his parents…pursuing a degree in sports management with the post-graduation goal of owning his own athletic performance facility.
