Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – Florida Tech (7-5, 2-3 SSC) has not fared well away from the comforts of the Clemente Center this season, losing their first three contests. The struggles persisted on Saturday afternoon against the Eckerd Tritons. Behind one set, FIT tied the match up in the second but EC (7-6, 2-3 SSC) powered through and knocked off the Panthers in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-25).
This is the first time during the 2015 season that FIT has lost consecutive matches, also dropping a four setter against Saint Leo Friday. EC, on the other hand, has now won two straight contests including a major upset victory over No. 6 Florida Southern on Friday night.
Junior
Jenna Schaffer paced the Panthers with 12 kills, six digs and five total blocks and senior
Alea Hamm added nine kills and six blocks. Senior
Kim Juriga finished with seven kills, seven assists and two blocks, while freshman
Olivia Hersey also tallied seven kills in addition to three blocks.
At setter, senior
Ashtin Truesdale notched a double-double with 33 assists and 11 digs to go along with her three kills and two blocks. Fellow senior
Payton Bayless picked up 11 digs and two assists and sophomore
Becca Bower recorded six digs and six assists.
Tjasa Kotnik led EC with a match-high 16 kills and nine digs. JaQuayla Baker and Katie Arnetter registered 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Kaitlyn Sibson added 13 digs and Arielle Erillo finished with 11 digs. On the inside, Emily Schadow dished out with a match-high 53 assists.
The Panthers close out the three-game road slate with a matchup at Florida Southern on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET in Lakeland, Florida.
