MELBOURNE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Florida Tech's (6-14, 0-7 SSC) troubles in Sunshine State Conference action continued Thursday as the Panthers fell to the Barry Buccaneers (12-9, 4-4 SSC) in four sets at the Clemente Center.
FIT opened the match on the right foot by winning the first set 26-24. However, the Bucs bounced back in the second game 25-20. Carrying the momentum, Barry closed out the match with sets of 25-18 and 25-23 to win 3-1 and take the season series over the Panthers.
Olivia Hersey led Florida Tech with 11 kills, four blocks and three digs on a team-high .409 hitting percentage.
Jenna Schaffer finished with a double-double on 10 kills and 11 digs, while
Heather Bowersox and
Abigael Brenke tallied eight kills apiece.
Kiersten Rosa produced a double-double on 33 assists and a team-best 16 digs in addition to collecting five kills.
Becca Bower contributed nine assists and eight digs to the Panthers' stat line.
Jaeda Allen powered BU to the victory with a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs. Kristina Filimonova notched 12 kills and three blocks, while Genesis Castillo added nine kills. Jenny Trinidad dished out 39 assists to go along with 12 digs and Kat Espinosa led all players with 23 digs.
Next up for Florida Tech is Saturday's Dig Pink Game against SSC foe Lynn at 4 p.m. ET at the Clemente Center.
