MELBOURNE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Led by several season-best performances, the Florida Tech volleyball team (8-21, 2-13 SSC) knocked off the Eckerd Tritons (18-13, 9-7 SSC) in four sets to earn its second Sunshine State Conference victory of the season Thursday at the Clemente Center.
The Panthers finished with a hit rate of .251 with 65 kills and 22 errors, while the Tritons posted .226 hitting with 56 kills and 21 errors.
Olivia Hersey tied a season-high with 16 kills on a match-high .467 hitting.
Kiayna O'Neal set a new season-best with 15 kills on a hit percentage of .407.
Jenna Schaffer collected a double-double on 11 kills and 12 digs and
Heather Bowersox notched 10 kills in the match.
Kiersten Rosa dished out a season-high 54 assists for the Panthers to go along with 11 digs.
Becca Bower led all players with 21 digs.
Nicole Fortuna and
Kyra Atkinson added nine and eight digs off the bench, respectively.
Kali Boatwright tallied a double-double for the Tritons on 15 kills and 14 digs, while Lauryn Nelson posted 15 kills on a team-high hit rate of .375. Jaquayla Baker finished with 12 kills and a match-best eight total blocks. Fernanda Reis and Gabriella Reis dished out 24 and 23 assists, respectively. Kaitlyn Sibson led her team with 20 digs.
Florida Tech closes out the 2016 season tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 18, with its Senior Night Match against Florida Southern at 7 p.m. ET at the Clemente Center. The Panthers will be honoring a pair of seniors,
Kiayna O'Neal and
