DAHLONEGA, Ga. (Baseball) -Â Florida Tech opens week four of the season with a Friday night game against Albany State. The Panthers won 10-2 against the Rams at the neutral site of Bob Stein Stadium in Dahlonega, Georgia. Florida Tech gave an impressive performance that held the Rams to only two runs and just one hit throughout the entire game.Â
The game started quickly when Dan Szpik hit a home run to left center which brought home
Reid Neal and
Grant McKown who were on base. Forwarding to the 4th inning, the score was 6-1 when Neal hit a hard double down the left field line which brought in
Kevin Capella. The Rams answered in the bottom of the inning when they scored their second run of the game, but the Panthers kept them scoreless after that. Florida Tech played the rest of the game hard and scored four more runs to lock in the win.
Taking his third win of the season was pitcher Andy Marzheuser, who pitched for six innings and only allowed one hit and two runs off of the 24 batters he faced.
Jake Lane relieved Marzheuser for the last three innings and took the save when he tallied four strikeouts with no hits and no runs against the 11 batters he faced.Â
Leading the Panthers was Szpik who drove in two runs and three RBI's off of two hits. Not far behind, Neal went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and an RBI. The Panthers collectively accumulated seven doubles, two triples, and four stolen bases throughout the night which brought them their 10 runs and 14 hits.
