MELBOURNE, Fla. (Baseball) - Florida Tech falls to Florida Southern in their conference opener on Friday night. The Panthers kept it close by only allowing three runs and 10 hits for the
Mocs, but could not manage to bring anyone home and were defeated 3-0.

Capra went 2-for-4 on the day while fellow teammates
David Wilson, James
Gronberg and
Pedro Rivera collected one hit apiece. Defensively, Florida Tech recorded 27 putouts and 13 assists for a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Starting pitcher
Ty Cohen took his second loss of the season against the Moccasins. Cohen pitched for six innings where he struck out five and held Florida Southern to only two runs and nine hits.
Justin Barney came in to relieve Cohen and pitched for the final three innings where he struck out three and only allowed one run and one hit.
At the bottom of the third, Florida Tech reached base with a double to left center by
Gronberg. Soon after, John
Sternagel was walked despite the runners at first and second, the Crimson and Gray lineup was unable to bring its runners home.
In the home half of the fifth inning, Rivera flared a doubled to deep center but was left hanging and Florida Tech closed another inning scoreless. In the following innings, the Panthers tried to create more scoring situations but runners were unable to touch home plate and eventually fell 3-0.
The Panthers will head back to the action against the Moccasins tomorrow, in a double header that will start at 1 p.m. ET at Andy
