Panthers Earn Bid to SSC Tournament on Senior Night

MELBOURNE, Fla. – In an emotional night that saw three outstanding senior member of the Panthers men's soccer team honored for their contributions to the group. No. 15 Florida Tech ended the joyous occasion with a 2-2 tied with Tampa and a birth into the SSC tournament.

The Crimson and Gray largely dominated the first half on the attacking front, as they outshot Tampa 13-5. However, it was Tampa who struck first as they converted a shot in the 35th minute.

The second half started in a similar fashion as the first with Florida Tech dictating the pace and firing shots at the Spartans keeper. The Panthers steady dominance finally paid off in the 58th minute as two beautiful passes by Luca Campanini and Per Henrik Nag lead to Mikkel Roeisland netting his fourth goal of the year.

Luca Campanini then tallied a goal of his own in the 72nd minute to give the Crimson and Gray a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, Tampa evened it back up only six minutes later. The 2-2 would last till the end of the 90 minutes as the two teams geared up for some overtime soccer.

The two teams would hunker down in the two extra periods of play as the backlines tightened up and did not allow another shot to find the back of the goal. This resulted in first tie of the year for Florida Tech and fourth for Tampa.

The Panthers will look to improve upon its conference standing in their final match of the regular season as they invite Rollins into Rick Stottler Field on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is set for 7 pm ET.
