MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Tech men's soccer (10-3-1, 6-3-1 SSC) picked up a very important, 4-0, win over Rollins (10-6-0, 4-6-0 SSC). This plus a Florida Southern loss propelled the Panthers into the fifth seed for the upcoming Sunshine State Conference tournament.
This match was all Florida Tech from beginning to end as the team made their presence felt throughout. The men attacked early and often as they outshot the Tars, 9-4, in the first half. This advantage didn't look like it would amount to anything before the whistle until a well-placed ball by
Stian Hagboe Olsen (1) found the back of the net with only four seconds left on the clock.
This gave the team all the momentum they needed as they found the promised land three more times in the second period. The first of the three came off a beautiful ground cross by
Paris Junior Roserie that landed right at the feet of
Mikkel Roeisland (5) who struck the one-timer with ease.
The Crimson and Gray made it 3-0, in the 69th minute, thanks to
Hugo Lopez linking up with
Robbie Madden (1) for another insurance goal. The final nail in the coffin came just five minutes later when a frustration foul by Rollin's keeper TJ Brubaker, set up a penalty kick for
Luca Campanini which he propelled past Brubaker for his eighth goal of the year.
Florida Tech will look to care this momentum into its next match on Monday, Oct. 29, when they head to Lynn for the quarterfinals of the SSC tournament.
