Melbourne, Fla. (Volleyball) - On Friday night, the Panthers had their Dig Pink match against the Mocs. Florida Tech (9-17, SSC 4-11) defeated Florida Southern (17-9, SSC 9-6) five sets of play. 

Before the match, the Panthers recognized former Athletic Business Manager Joey Simciak and mother of Florida Tech senior Becca Bower, Kerri Bower, for exemplifying the strength and inspiration to all those who fight against the disease. 

Florida Tech collected a season-high of 76 kills on 186 attempts with a hitting percentage .306. Panthers also had 69 kills, eight service aces, 14 blocks, and 81 digs. 

Leading the Panthers defensively, senior Kiersten Rosa tallied 50 assists and 15 digs. Also, Bower collected 13 assists, two service aces, and 18 digs to end the match.

Offensively, senior Heather Bowersox collected 17 kills on 49 attempts for a .286 hitting percentage. Senior Kelly Germain registered 23 kills on 48 attempts for a .313 hitting percentage. Also, senior Olivia Hersey tallied 22 kills on 34 attempts for an impressive hitting percentage of .529. 

Next up, the Crimson and Gray will be back tomorrow against Saint Leo at Melbourne, Fla. The match is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
